She completed the ACVIM board examination to become a Diplomate of the American College of Internal Medicine (board-certified internist) in 2001. She has since lectured extensively to Southern California veterinarians. Before coming to Santa Barbara 20 years ago, Dr. Wells practiced Internal Medicine for 4 years in San Diego, California.
Her professional specialties include immune-mediated, gastrointestinal, renal, pulmonary, liver, and endocrine diseases. She is trained in and has extensive experience with special procedures including ultrasonography and ultrasound-guided biopsy, bone marrow aspiration, endoscopy, and placement of tracheal and urethral stents. She enjoys caring for hospitalized patients who often have multiple ailments to balance.
Dr. Wells founded Advanced Veterinary Specialists in 2012 and grew the practice until 2021, doing what she could to advance the level of care available to pets in Santa Barbara and surrounding areas. After selling the practice, Dr. Wells has continued to enjoy practicing as a member of the AVS Internal Medicine team.
When not caring for patients, she enjoys cycling, swimming, competing in local triathlons, cooking, and travelling.
