Andrea Wells

A true love of the veterinary profession.

Dr. Wells earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at UC Davis and completed her internship at Purdue University. She then returned to UC Davis for her residency in Small Animal Internal Medicine. She completed the ACVIM board examination to become a Diplomate of the American College of Internal Medicine (Board Certified Internist) in 2001. She contributed to veterinary science through research of a novel treatment of feline hyperthyroidism which she presented at the National ACVIM Forum. She has since lectured extensively to Southern California veterinarians. Before coming to Santa Barbara 10 years ago, Dr. Wells practiced Internal Medicine for 4 years in San Diego, California.

Her professional specialties include immune-mediated, gastrointestinal, renal, pulmonary, liver, and endocrine diseases. She is trained in and has extensive experience with special procedures including ultrasonography and ultrasound-guided biopsy, bone marrow aspiration, endoscopy, and placement of tracheal and urethral stents. She enjoys caring for hospitalized patients who often have multiple ailments to balance.

Dr. Wells is extremely proud of the team at Advanced Veterinary Specialists. She is thrilled to have such highly skilled and compassionate people caring for the pets of Santa Barbara and surrounding areas.

When not overseeing the happenings at the hospital or caring for patients, she enjoys cycling, swimming, and competing in local triathlons.
